Billing and plans
Free and Paid, how domains are counted, monthly or yearly, founding members, cancelling and receipts.
Plans
There are two plans. Free watches 1 domain with every kind of check, for as long as you like, with no card. Paid watches as many domains as you need and adds faster checks from every region, all your history, your whole team, more status pages, texts and phone calls. Every account starts on Free. The pricing page has the current numbers and a calculator.
How domains are counted
Paid is priced per domain. A domain is a web address you own, like yourbakery.com, together with its subdomains, like shop.yourbakery.com.
- Up to 10 addresses can share a domain, each with its own uptime check.
- Each domain can have 3 more uptime checks on top of those, like a ping, a port or another page.
- SSL, domain expiry, DNS and email setup checks are always included.
- Each domain includes 5 heartbeats. Past those, every 5 more count as another domain.
- Each multi-step check counts as a domain of its own, and so does a server you watch by its IP address.
- Only what's running counts: a domain whose checks are all paused isn't counted.
- An agency's client workspaces are counted together and billed to the agency.
What you pay
Each domain is priced by the band it falls in, so the price per domain goes down as you add more:
| Domains | Price per domain, a month |
|---|---|
| 1 to 10 | $0.90 |
| 11 to 100 | $0.30 |
| 101 and up | $0.25 |
The smallest bill is $5 a month, which covers up to 5 domains (why there's a minimum). Domains with fast checks, every 30 seconds, cost 10% more. Paying yearly costs 10 months' worth for 12. Prices are in US dollars.
Upgrading
Open Billing (billing managers and owners). It shows how many domains you're using and what Paid would cost, monthly or yearly. Choose one and pay by card; payments are handled by Stripe, and your card details never reach our servers. If you have a promotion code, enter it at checkout. The new limits apply as soon as the payment goes through, and anything paused by the free plan's limits starts again.
Adding and removing domains
Add and remove sites whenever you like. Your bill follows the domains you're watching, and changes from your next billing date. You never have to pick a bigger plan.
Monthly or yearly
To switch, open Billing › Change plan. Moving to yearly charges you for the year now, less what's left of the month you've paid for. Moving to monthly starts at your next renewal date, with what's left of the year credited.
Founding members
The first 100 paying accounts are founding members. They keep the prices they signed up at for as long as they stay subscribed, even if the price list goes up later. Price cuts still apply to them.
If prices change
Price cuts apply to you straight away. For an increase we email you at least 30 days ahead, and the new price starts from your next renewal after that.
Text packs
Paid includes 25 texts a month. If you need more, buy a pack from Billing or Alerts: 100 texts for $2 and 500 texts for $8. Packs are one-time purchases and never expire while your account is open. See SMS alerts and credits.
Cancelling
Cancel from Billing at any time. Your plan stays until the end of the period you've paid for, then the account moves to Free. Nothing is deleted. If you end up over the free plan's limits:
- the newest domains over the limit are paused (marked "paused by plan limit");
- checks are slowed down to the free plan's interval;
- extra check regions are dropped.
Upgrading again starts them.
Taxes, receipts and refunds
Prices don't include tax. Where tax applies, it's added at checkout and shown on your receipt. Receipts for subscriptions and text packs are under Billing › Charges; add your company name, address or tax ID to Billing so they appear on them. Payments aren't refundable except where the law says otherwise, but if something went wrong, contact us and we'll look at it fairly.
