Where your money goes

Our prices start from our bills.

Pingerer isn't priced by guessing what people will pay. We add up what it costs to run, add a fair wage for the person who builds and supports it, and set the price per domain from that. Here's what goes into it.

What we pay for

  • Servers. The app and its database run in Germany, and the checks come from there and from small servers in New York, Toronto and Singapore, so a problem is confirmed from more than one place.
  • Email delivery. Alerts, reports and status page updates go through a service that makes sure they land in the inbox.
  • Text messages and phone calls. Every text and call costs us a little, which is why there's a monthly allowance and packs.
  • Card fees. Our card processor takes 2.9% + 30¢ from every payment.
  • Backups. The database is backed up and the copies are kept off the main server.
  • The domain and DNS for pingerer.com.
  • App store accounts for the iPhone and Android apps (coming soon).

What's left after those pays the person who builds Pingerer, answers your emails and keeps it running.

We're still adding up this month's bills. The list on the left is what they're made of, and the totals will show here once they're in.

Why the smallest bill is $5

Every card payment costs us 2.9% + 30¢. On a $5 bill that's about 9%. On a $1 bill it would be about 33%, and we'd lose money on every small account. So the minimum covers up to 5 domains, and after that you pay per domain.

Fair to you if prices change

If our costs go down, we can lower prices, and cuts apply to you straight away. If they go up, we'll email you at least 30 days before an increase starts. The first 100 paying customers are founding members and keep their price for as long as they stay subscribed.
