Privacy Policy
Last updated October 27, 2026
This policy explains what personal information Synergia Solutions Holding Ltd., a British Columbia company ("Pingerer", "we") collects when you use pingerer.com, our apps, API and command-line tool (the "Service"), why, who we share it with, how long we keep it and the choices you have. We keep it short and specific. Questions: support@pingerer.com.
Who is responsible
For your account information and our website, Pingerer is the controller. For personal information you put into the Service about other people (for example, a teammate's email address or a status page subscriber), you are the controller and we process it for you under our Data Processing Addendum.
Pingerer is a product of Synergia Solutions Holding Ltd., a British Columbia company, 502 Smith Avenue, Coquitlam, BC V3J 0H9, Canada.
What we collect
| Information | Examples | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Account data | Name, email address, password (stored only as a one-way hash), time zone, account and team names, roles, sign-in details from Google or GitHub if you use them, two-factor settings | To create and secure your account and let you work with your team |
| Monitored targets | The URLs, hostnames, domains, ports and settings you ask us to check, including any custom headers you add | To run the checks you set up |
| Check results | Response codes, response times, certificate and domain details, DNS records, email authentication records, error messages, heartbeat pings (with the IP address they came from), and details about what's behind each target, such as its hosting provider and network, CDN, DNS provider, registrar, certificate issuer, software platform and approximate location | To work out whether your targets are up and show you history and reports |
| Alert contact details | Email addresses, Slack, Discord, Teams and Telegram destinations, webhook URLs | To send the alerts you ask for |
| SMS numbers | Phone numbers you add for text or voice alerts, verification codes (stored hashed), opt-out (STOP) records and delivery receipts | To verify numbers, send alerts, honor opt-outs and count credits |
| Status page data | What you publish, and the email addresses of people who subscribe to your page | To show your page and email your subscribers updates |
| App and device data | If you use our iPhone or Android app: a push notification token, the device's name and type, and the app version. The apps contain no advertising, analytics or tracking tools | To send push alerts to your phone and let you see and sign out your devices |
| Billing data | Plan, invoices, billing address and tax details. Card details go directly to Stripe; we only see the brand, last four digits and expiry | To charge for paid plans and keep tax records |
| Messages to us | Contact form messages, feedback and support emails | To answer you |
| Technical data | IP address, browser and device type, pages visited in the app, request logs, error reports | To keep the Service secure and working, prevent abuse and fix bugs |
We don't sell personal information, we don't use it for advertising, and neither our marketing pages nor our apps use third-party analytics or advertising trackers.
Research and statistics
Monitoring data is mostly about websites and the services behind them, not about people. We study it combined across all our customers, and may publish or share anonymized statistics and research from it, for example how often sites on a given hosting provider go down, or how many sites have their email set up correctly. We never sell or share data that identifies you, your account, your sites or your clients.
Legal bases (EEA and UK)
- Contract: to provide the Service you signed up for.
- Legitimate interests: to secure the Service, prevent abuse, and improve it, in ways you'd reasonably expect.
- Consent: for SMS alerts and status page subscriptions, which you can withdraw at any time.
- Legal obligation: to keep billing and tax records.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of service providers ("subprocessors") who process data only on our instructions:
| Provider | What for | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Hetzner Online | Servers and databases (hosting) | Germany (EU) |
| Amazon Web Services | Encrypted database backups and the long-term archive of check results | Canada |
| DigitalOcean | Check probes in other regions (they see the addresses you monitor and what those answer) | United States, Canada and Singapore |
| Cloudflare | DNS, network protection and custom domains for status pages | Global network |
| Stripe | Payments and invoices | United States and others |
| Postmark (ActiveCampaign) | Sending email: alerts, account emails, status page updates | United States |
| Apple, Google | Delivering push notifications to our iPhone and Android apps (Apple Push Notification service, Firebase Cloud Messaging) | United States |
| Twilio | Text message and voice alerts | United States |
| Honeybadger | Error tracking (error reports can include request details) | United States |
| Google, GitHub | Only if you choose to sign in with them | United States |
Our check probes, which visit your targets, run in Germany (Hetzner) and in the United States, Canada and Singapore (DigitalOcean). Alerts you send to Slack, Discord, Microsoft Teams, Telegram or a webhook go to those services under their own terms. We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect people's safety or our rights, or as part of a merger or sale of the business (and we'd tell you).
International transfers
Some providers are outside your country, including in the United States. Where the law requires it, we rely on safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, the UK Addendum and the EU-US Data Privacy Framework where a provider is certified.
How long we keep it
- Account data: while your account is open. When you delete a site or your account, we archive it first rather than erasing it straight away, so it can be restored if that was a mistake. When you ask us to delete your account, we review the request and remove your personal information within 30 days, except what the law requires us to keep (such as billing records).
- Check results and other monitoring data: kept indefinitely. Recent results stay in our main database; older ones move to an encrypted long-term archive. How much history you can see in the Service depends on your plan (shown on the pricing page). After your account is deleted we keep this data only in a form that no longer identifies you or your account, unless you ask us to remove it as well.
- SMS records: message bodies of verification texts are blanked once sent; opt-out records are kept so we keep honoring them.
- Billing records: as long as tax law requires, usually 6 to 7 years.
- Logs and error reports: up to 90 days.
- Backups: rolled over within 12 months (hourly for 2 days, then daily, weekly and monthly copies).
Your rights
Depending on where you live (including under the GDPR, UK GDPR, Canada's PIPEDA and US state privacy laws) you can ask to access, correct, export or delete your personal information (you can start deleting your account from your account settings or our apps), object to or restrict some processing, and withdraw consent. Most of this you can do yourself in your account settings. Otherwise email support@pingerer.com; we'll reply within 30 days and may need to confirm it's you. If someone else's account holds your information (for example, you subscribed to a business's status page), we'll pass your request to them. You can also complain to your data protection authority, such as the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or your EU or UK supervisory authority.
Cookies
We only use cookies the Service needs to work, such as keeping you signed in. See our Cookie Notice.
Security
We encrypt data in transit, encrypt sensitive settings (like alert channel credentials and phone numbers) at rest, store passwords and verification codes only as hashes, limit staff access, and offer two-factor sign-in. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your information we'll tell you as the law requires.
Children
The Service isn't meant for children under 16 and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Changes
We'll post any changes here and update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll also email account owners before it takes effect.
